Roofing Resources

Preparing your home for roof work.

Once we start, your property becomes an active job site. A little prep keeps everyone safe and the work moving smoothly. Here's exactly what to do before, during, and after your roof replacement.

We're committed to a clean, safe process from start to finish. Here's how you can help it go even smoother.

Phase 01

Before we begin

  • Clear your driveway. We'll need the space for material deliveries and equipment.
  • Secure fragile items indoors. Roofing means hammering and vibration — take down wall hangings and anything that could rattle loose.
  • Keep kids and pets clear of the work area for everyone's safety.
  • Move outdoor furniture and potted plants away from the house. If you have a pool or pond nearby, cover it.
  • Turn off your sprinklers the night before and during our workdays.
  • Cover anything stored in the attic or garage. We may be removing sections of the old roof, and debris can fall.
Phase 02

While we work

  • Disarm your security alarm if you have one — the vibration can sometimes trip it.
  • Unlock perimeter gates so we can move debris in and out efficiently.
  • Make sure we have access to water and electricity.
  • Watch your step around the property. We clean as we go, but the occasional nail or scrap can turn up.
  • Use caution heading in and out of the house while work is underway.
Phase 03

After we finish

  • Double-check that all gates are latched before letting pets back out.
  • Keep an eye out for any stray nails or material, especially in tall grass or leaves.
  • If your home runs on gas, do a quick check that vent pipes are still connected — it's an important safety step that isn't always visible from the ground.

We strive for excellence in everything we do. If you notice anything amiss during or after our work, call us right away at 806-698-4653. MCMaster is always here for our West Texas community.
